Propane Tank

September 2024

I hope you were able to relax and enjoy the Labor Day weekend. September has been fairly mild the last few years, so here’s to hoping Mother Nature cuts us some slack again this year.
Since the summer officially ends September 22nd, now would be a great time to replace that nasty filter and give your furnace a test run to see if it ignites. If it doesn’t, contact your heating contractor to get your furnace checked out. (After you assure yourself that there is fuel in the tank.)

If you’re a farmer, you’ll be starting the fall harvest soon and your diesel consumption will be picking up. Are you getting a good diesel product from your current fuel supplier or are you getting fuel oil? Cenex premium diesel fuels contain additives that improve the cetane number, which generates fewer emissions for longer-lasting diesel particulate filters, fewer regenerations, reduced wear and tear on vehicle starters and batteries while also improving cold weather starts.

Cenex premium diesel fuels also contain an aggressive detergency package. This additive package is 40% more effective at breaking down harmful engine deposits and 2.5 times more effective at cleaning up injector deposits and preventing further build-up in dirty equipment. It also generates up to 4.5% more power and up to 5% better fuel economy because you’re not fighting dirty injectors.

Another advantage of using Cenex premium diesel fuels is storage stability. Other additives tolerate extreme temperatures and reduce gum and varnish build-up, increasing injector life and optimizing combustibility. In addition, a demulsifier additive drops moisture out of the fuel so that it can be drained from storage tanks.

Cenex premium diesel fuel contains additives that target rust on metal engine parts, preventing corrosion and protecting fuel systems from rust, pitting, and other expensive leaks, blocks, and breaks. They also slow natural fuel degradation caused by exposure to oxygen.

Cenex has been the leader in premium diesel fuel for decades. How am I confident that we are getting the right combination of additives? Because the additives are injected into the delivery truck directly at the terminal while loading, ensuring that the same amount of additives are going into each gallon of fuel. If you’re having a lot of injector issues, chances are that your fuel supplier is not putting in the proper amount of additives. If you want a cheap product for your expensive equipment, use fuel oil. If you want a quality product that protects your engine while giving you the biggest bang for your buck, use Cenex premium diesel fuels.

Enjoy the rest of the summer and thank you for your business.

As we head into fall and harvest begins, September is a great time to review the basics of soil sampling. When it comes to soil sampling, the phrase “you cannot manage what you do not measure” is all too accurate.

As our summer grazing season dwindles down, now is a favorable time to get a head start on the 2025 season. Thistles and other biennial and perennial weeds are soon to begin to prepare for winter by sending nutrients and energy back down to the roots. The translocation to the roots of fall herbicide applications by products like DuraCor, will provide excellent long-term weed control. DuraCor offers control over a broader spectrum of weeds and at a lower use rate than its predecessor, GrazonNext HL. Contact your agronomist today to get started with DuraCor.
