January 2024

Happy New Year to each of you from the staff at Premier Cooperative. I hope everyone was able to take a break over the holidays and spend time with family and friends.

On January 24th we will be holding our 131st annual meeting of the members of Premier Cooperative. Reports from our CFO Andy Jones, board chairman Steve Burns, myself, as well as director election results and scholarship recipients will be part of the meeting.

As we report on the financial performance of our past year, it is important to remember that is what has already happened, and that our focus must shift to the new investments in facilities and people that will continue to position our cooperative for growth and future success. Each year there are plenty sprayers, and other equipment that need to be updated or replaced as they have worn out serving our customers. However, investments in new facilities, expanded manufacturing capabilities, and employee development will be what helps set Premier Cooperative apart from our competition. 2024 will be an exciting year for investments across nearly all divisions for Premier. I look forward to sharing the progress as the year goes on.

Thank you for helping to make 2023 a successful year at your cooperative. We rely on your continued support to allow us to invest in the staff and fixed assets needed to help meet your needs while providing a safe and rewarding environment for the employee team. It remains our goal to be the Premier company for our customers and employees.

Harvest is upon us. Premier Cooperative’s Grain Division is prepared to receive what we hope to be a bountiful crop this year. We have spent a lot of time doing preventative maintenance to ensure quick unload times at each location. This will help ensure limited breakdowns during the busy harvest season.

October 1st marked a milestone in my life. Thirty years ago on that date, I started working for the cooperative. I was 32 years old with a work history that included working as a laborer in a cheese factory, a construction worker building Harvestore silos, an infantryman in the U.S. Army and a salesperson at a competing cooperative. I guess you could say I was well rounded.
